| Excerpts from the Log Book |
[03 Feb 2008|02:07pm] |
So, for those who don't know, I'm currently working as a security guard. Mostly, I drive a car with a blinky light on top and a company logo on the side around Wal-Mart parking lots all night. Last night was semi-eventful so here's a few ACTUAL ENTRIES from my log of it to illustrate the most interesting of these events:

| Saint Patrick's Phone Number... A MYSTERY! |
[24 May 2007|12:55pm] |
So, I was playing Civilization IV earlier today when I came across an interesting occurrence. Just as the Great Prophet Saint Patrick was born in my capital of Athens, I get this display (click for full screen):

That number "2147483647" immediately jumped out at me as a phone number, not least of all because I live in Dallas, where 214 is a local area code; my cell phone has a 214 number and I know lots of people around here who have 214 numbers. So naturally I assumed that Civ IV had somehow accidentally stumbled into my registration or phonebook or something. However, that was not the case. I don't know anyone with the phone number 214-748-3647.
Which leads to a great mystery. Can YOU guess why St. Patrick lives in the Dallas area and why his phone number appears in Civ IV? Oh, and searching the internet for the answer is cheating. ;)
The answer is ( behind the cut... )

| Ah, customers... |
[21 Apr 2006|08:40pm] |
For those who don't know, I work at Fry's Electronics now. So yesterday, I'm talking with a customer and my supervisor comes up and says, "Graham, when you're done with him, there's a woman over by the computer cases who needs some help." So I say OK, hurry up with the first customer, and go over to the cases. I see her walking away, about to leave, so I hurry over and ask if I can help her find something.

OMG, I can't believe that I actually saw this on real life television. It's like that spoof trailer for "Brokeback to the Future". Only for REAL!
(apologies for the low video quality, I just pointed my digicam at the TV and hit "record video")
